Dr. David Winans is a native of Berks county and a graduate of Wyomissing Area High School. Following high school, he attended Penn State University, where he was a walk on member of the varsity soccer team and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He moved back to the Philadelphia area to complete his dental degree, graduating summa cum laude from Temple University School of Dentistry.
After graduating from Temple University, he remained in the Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia while working to receive his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical training from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Winans is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a member of the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the Reading Hospital Medical Staff and a speaker on behalf of the Straumann Dental Implant System.
Some of Dr. Winans’ specialty training and interests include corrective jaw surgery, treatment of oral/facial tumors and cysts with advanced reconstruction, facial trauma, temporomandibular joint disorders, obstructive sleep apnea, implant rehabilitation, and dental extractions. This allows him to provide complete patient comfort through the utilization of general anesthesia and state of the art patient monitoring. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Outside of Berks Oral Surgery, Dr. Winans enjoys spending time with his wife Bethany, his 2 sons, and his dog Dolce. His other interests include soccer, skiing, and triathlons.
